A Jewish American singer and comedian, Katz was accused of making stereo-typical sketches of Jews while popularizing Jewish music and humor. He was very successful in the late 1940s and 50s, recorded several albums that sold very well. This song is a klezmer square dance.

Don’s songs are little vignettes, usually using humour and irony to arrest our fetid minds from out of their doldrums. I mean, who else would begin a song with “Here’s a song I wrote one day when I was gonna kill my cat…. Coz he peed in my guitar case.”

John Lennon: double traked lead vocal, lead & rhythm guitars

Produced by George Martin, 1964
Recorded at EMI Abby Road Studio Two, London
This is the original British version of the song on 45 and to me, sounds a wee bit different from the North American release. "I Feel Fine" starts with a single, percussive feedback note produced by McCartney plucking the A string on his bass, and Lennon's guitar, which was leaning against McCartney's bass amp, picking up feedback. This was the first use of feedback on a rock record. According to McCartney, "John had a semi-acoustic Gibson guitar. It had a pickup on it so it could be amplified ... We were just about to walk away to listen to a take when John leaned his guitar against the amp. I can still see him doing it … it went, 'Nnnnnnwahhhhh!' And we went, 'What's that? Voodoo!' 'No, it's feedback.' 'Wow, it's a great sound!' George Martin was there so we said, 'Can we have that on the record?' 'Well, I suppose we could, we could edit it on the front.'
John Lennon claimed: "I defy anybody to find a record – unless it's some old blues record in 1922 – that uses feedback that way."

The Thing called a Simeon was made up of nine audio oscillators piled on top of each other and eighty-six manual controls to control lead, rhythm and bass pulses with hands, feet and elbows. Simeon devised a system of telegraph keys and pedals to control tonality and chord changes, and reportedly never learned to play traditional piano-styled keyboards or synthesizers.
Both players played in the Café Wha? (NYC) house band ‘The Overland Stage Electric Band’ and quit to form the Silver Apples duo. Taylor was a drummer whose previous experience included playing with Jimi Hendrix.
Their first gig as Silver Apples was before 30,000 fans in NY's Central Park. Taylor's drum kit included thirteen drums, five cymbals and other percussion instruments. Danny Taylor died on March 10, 2005 Kingston, NY of heart attack. Simeon kept on playing Silver Apples gigs using recordings of Taylor’s original drum tracks.

Mostly active in the 70s and early 80s. Considered to be a pioneer of commercial electronic music. He played in various bands, including Mean Street and The Lasers before forming Tubeway Army. He picked the surname “Numan” from an advert in the Yellow Pages for a plumber whose surname was Neumann. He became known for his android stage look which came about because of an appearance on BBC TVs “Top of the Pops”. He broke out with acne before the show (due to nerves) and wore so much make-up to cover up his spots that became his ‘Look’.
